Taiwan College of Rheumatology (TRA) was established on November 27, 1982 in Taipei, Taiwan and was formally registered in the minister of the Interior as an academic society in Taiwan. TRA is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The aims of the TRA are to prompt the patient care, education and research in rheumatology. TRA joined South East Asia and Pacific Area League against Rheumatism (SEAPAL) as an observer member in 1980 and became the formal member of APLAR in 1988.
Since established, TRA grew from strength to strength with 307 active members now.
TRA organizes two meetings annually, the TRA Annual Meeting in December and the Spring Meeting in April. The regional meetings are held in three big city, Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung quarterly, TRA publishes a rheumatology magazine, the Formosan Journal of Rheumatology quarterly and the TRA e-newsletter monthly. TRA supports an ultrasound team, the TRUST to promote the ultrasound examination in Taiwan. The academic activities in TRA are exciting and active. The APLAR Symposium was successfully organized by TRA in Taipei, Taiwan in 2011. TRA keeps a close relationship with the six Patient Caring Societies in Taiwan.
Finally, all the members of TRA are very active to participate the international rheumatology meeting, including ACR, EULAR, APLAR and others. TRA likes to keep a good relationship with all the rheumatology societies in the world.
